Our Story

The MuslimMoon was conceptualized one chilly Canadian evening in 2017, when my 3-year old daughter returned home from school bouncing around with joy as the festivities of the holiday season were around the corner. As any child would, she was fascinated by all the colorful lights and vibrant decorations that adorned her school, our neighbourhood, the malls and stores. The holiday spirit was in the air. What fun!

Having spent my formative years in the Middle East, it was easy being “Muslim” in a muslim part of the world. However, it dawned on me, that it may not be the same for my child growing up in a western culture. In her early years, she seemed to know more about other festivities before I even had the chance to explain 'Eid' to her. It was at this moment that I realized there was a need for a creative way to engage our children and our families with this beautiful religion of ours. What began as drive to bring the beauty of Islam to my home and my child has now turned into the ambition of bringing the same to the entire world.

Being an artist myself, I decided to embark on this journey to design and create a range of products, each like a piece of art, each with its own story, in hopes to provide our youth and families with memorable, eclectic and inspirational experiences.

Whats Behind The Name?

Our name is a play on words.

The “MuslimMoon” is an Arabic word (مسلمون) and quite literally means “Muslims.”

Splitting the word into “Muslim” and “Moon” is also a recognition of the importance of the role the moon plays in Islam to determine the beginning and end of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Eids, and overall the islamic lunar calendar.
